Why did Wu Zhing Kuo have to say absolutely all of his lines in Chinese instead of English? Was it Tan Dun's own intention or was it the fact that this guy doesn't speak a word of English. I think Tan Dun should have taught him the language by now. I think if this is a Metropolitan Opera creation and Tan Dun says he wasn't really trying to make a Chinese opera here, than why didn't he teach Wu Zhing Kuo English. Maybe this was all Zhang Yimou's fault. I hope that next time he performs this role he does it in English, unless Tan Dun wanted him to do it in Chinese, then I'll forgive him.
