Was it Tan Dun's own intention or was it the fact that this guy doesn't speak a word of English. I think Tan Dun should have taught him the language by now. I think if this is a Metropolitan Opera creation and Tan Dun says he wasn't really trying to make a Chinese opera here, than why didn't he teach Wu Zhing Kuo English. Maybe this was all Zhang Yimou's fault. I hope that next time he performs this role he does it in English, unless Tan Dun wanted him to do it in Chinese, then I'll forgive him.
